Praise ye theLord. Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with the stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
Psalm 150.
Assets for praising the Lord according to me: I receive peace, joy, confidence, security, power to overcome confusion and turmoil. independence, I believe wisdom and the biggest comfort of all is a love that surround not only me but everybody I think of and pray for. A love that I cannot explain in words.
If however, one do not know God how can they praise him? I think that is impossible. As for me if I am hearing about someone but I have never met that person and I have no interaction with he/she I will assume that person is like me. Almost in all cases when I happen to meet that person I am hearing about, their personality is different from mine. In the same vein I think if one is hearing about God but have never met or don’t know who God is, one could only think of him as one’s own personality and I am almost certain it won’t be in a praise mode.
In the Psalms King David was praising God and confessing his sins. He could have never done that if he did not know God personally and I believe we could never praise God if we do not know him personally as well. As for me I know it would be impossible to praise God if I did not know him but I want to thank him for knowing him. I want to praise him at all times because I have a comfort that no human could give me. I have a peace that regardless of the turmoil round about me I could stand firm and above all I want to praise him for Jesus the vehicle he used to come among us whereby human has no excuse for not knowing who God is.
