WE are about to celebrate EASTER; what is it all about?
When I was growing up, my mother used to have us going to church from Ash Wednesday every Wednesday during the Lent season.
Good Friday was a very special day, along with many other rituals such as, on that day she would break an egg, put the clear part of it in a glass of water and let it set in the sun to see what image would emerge from the egg. That in her view was the year’s destiny. I don’t know if that ritual still goes on.
On Saturday we had to have a Bath to cleanse us from our Sins and on Sunday the Big day dressed in white for church, after which were Kite flying, along with lots of other sports and parties.
Easter celebration was knowing about JESUS Christ Death and Resurrection, mingled with rituals that were empty and useless, just mere control by authorities.
When I became a young adult, I no longer celebrated Easter as I was taught, and even gave up going to church as there was something missing and the church in my opinion was only a controller.
The good thing about all this was the FEAR OF GOD which was instilled in me, and I knew I couldn’t do wrong and get away with it, as God was seeing all my movements and would be punished. That is true and no one gets away with doing wrong.
Hence the BRIDGE; for all have of us have SIN and come short of GOD’S Glory and NON would get to Heaven WITHOUT THE CROSS OF JESUS CHRIST.
The CROSS is the true meaning of EASTER “WE HAVE LIFE THROUGH THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS”. We can only achieve that LIFE by knowing him individually and following him.(see previous blogs).
CHRIST express His God-ship and manhood through the prayer he taught his disciples:
Our Father: Describing himself as one of us also as our Father.( Man and God)
Who art in Heaven: Saying God’s residence is in Heaven. (can’t see God)
Hallowed be thy name: Saying God’s name is Hallowed. (Holy)
Thy Kingdom Come: Saying his Kingdom come: (is here)
Thy will be done: Saying he has a plan: (for us)
On earth: Saying it is already done in heaven. (kingdom)
As it is in Heaven: Saying his Kingdom is in Heaven as well. (King of Kings).
Give us this day our daily bread: Saying the king feeds us daily both with spiritual and physical food. (body and soul)
And forgive us our trespasses: Saying we have sinned and come short of his Glory.(cleanse us to be pure in his presence)
As we forgive those who trespass against us: Saying we must forgive each other, to be forgiven. (he is taking our guilt)
An lead us not into temptation: Saying he knows when we are tempted. (dependence on him can stop it)
But deliver us from evil.( won’t allow evil to overcome us)
For thine is the Kingdom. (speaks for itself)
The power. ( Only power there is)
The glory. (Only Glory there is)
